Two Tails Taproom Edges Closer to Its Forever Home in Heathfield

Heathfield’s much-loved pop-up micropub is set to become the town centre’s first drink-led venue - and a first for Wealden too.

Two Tails Taproom, the popular pop-up micropub that has won the hearts of Heathfield, is edging closer to securing a permanent home, at 37 High Street, formerly an independent womenswear and clothing boutique. More than a move, it would give Two Tails a permanent base from which to continue doing what it already does best.

Two Tails is the brainchild of Colin and Deena Gilham, two avid micropub enthusiasts who made Heathfield their home in 2022. Since launching, the pair have built their venture around a simple ethos: working closely with local producers across everything they sell and shining a spotlight on those producers in the process.

Since 2024, Two Tails has hosted a series of pop-up events at Union Church in Heathfield, building a loyal and growing following from the local community and well beyond. Deena and Colin feel the time is now right to give Heathfield what it has been asking for - a permanent presence on the high street.

Beyond its commitment to local producers, Community has always been central to Two Tails - simply put, without community, there is no Two Tails. A permanent home would allow more community events, collaborations and local initiatives to take place - with several local groups, small businesses and charities already keen to get involved.

Whenever it lands, Two Tails Taproom will anchor its new location in the micropub model, prioritising local independent drinks and community connection.

Heathfield & Waldron Parish Council has already given its support to the change of use and licensing applications, but nothing is guaranteed until both are formally approved. However, with an overwhelming body of community support behind them and decisions now imminent, Two Tails are excited for great news very soon.

If approved, Two Tails Taproom is set to become the first drink-led venue in Heathfield town centre - and the first micropub not just in Heathfield, but in the whole of Wealden!
